“Every year 600,000 individuals die because of malaria, and most of these are children […] this is an injustice, it’s a tragedy...because it’s entirely preventable” – Dr Sania Nishtar; CEO at GAVI, The Vaccine Alliance
The UK -based charity, Malaria No More UK, teamed up with scientists at the Imperial College London and visual creatives at The Mill, to create the Zero Malaria Experience (ZME); an interactive installation, fed with real data and then generated into mesmerising visuals and thought-provoking audio within Touch Designer. The ZME helped demonstrate how the world can achieve zero malaria and in doing so help save millions of lives.
Alongside the experience, Malaria No More UK released a film featuring Zero Malaria ambassador, David Beckham, engaging with the one-of-a-kind interactive, immersive data-driven artwork. Coinciding with the launch of the online film, a private event was organised at the Outernet in London, showcasing the ZME on their huge 360º LED screens and L-ISA powered sound system. Special guests at the event included UK Government representatives, malaria-endemic country leaders, Global Fund young changemakers, leading malaria scientists and others leading the charge in finding new and innovative tools to help end malaria in our lifetime.
